Giovanni Esposito, Innovation Director at Argo Tractors, the global player manufacturing Landini and McCormick tractors, is the new chairman of the Technical Board of CEMA (European Agricultural Machinery Association). The members of CEMA represent the industry and national associations. The organisation consists of two levels, CEMA Board (political body) and the Technical Board (technical body), which recently elected Mr Esposito as its new president, for a two-year term. Giovanni Esposito began working at Argo Tractors in 2011. After more than 20 years of experience in the sector, he was appointed by the Morra family as director of innovation. The aim was to renew the product range by defining a multi-year development strategy based on cutting-edge and sustainable features.
“I am honoured to take on this role, which offers prestige and visibility to our company”, said Mr Esposito. “I intend to take advantage of the experience gained as a result of the teamwork at Argo Tractors that has allowed us to achieve significant technological milestones. This has prepared us for the challenges of the coming years”.
“Thanks to Mr Esposito, we have given new impetus to our products and way of working”, commented Alberto Morra, Member of the Steering Committee of Argo Tractors, “starting a journey that has brought innovation throughout the entire company, including tractors, related digital services, and product development platforms. All this allowed us to achieve an important technological leap and earn international recognition”.
For the Innovation Director at Argo Tractors now comes this opportunity to head the CEMA technical board.
“Without disrupting the existing balance”, added Giovanni Esposito, “I will try to ensure consistency through my personal involvement. In order to find the appropriate mediation on the most crucial issues, we need to draw on our knowledge as manufacturers. I am referring to artificial intelligence systems applied to machines, establishing clear rules, ensuring cyber security, protecting vehicles from hacking attacks, as well as ensuring data protection and environmental sustainability. The engine emission standards have already been defined and it now needs to be clarified whether the future tractor should be electric, hydrogen or fossil-fuelled, or whether it can benefit from all these technologies simultaneously.”
Alberto Morra concludes: “For years we have been sharing our vision within this institutional forum to outline the future of agricultural mechanisation. Furthermore, Esposito’s appointment coincides with the year in which our Landini brand celebrates 140 years of history: an additional source of pride for our company and its employees. We wish the new president and new committee the best of luck in their new positions”.
