Godfried Heydenrych has been named as the new director of Argo South Africa, the South African subsidiary of Argo Tractors, the global player based in Fabbrico, Reggio Emilia, Italy and manufacturer of Landini, McCormick and Valpadana brand tractors.
Heydenrych, who has had a great deal of experience in the sector and held various top positions, takes the baton from Mike Terblanche who retired after a long, successful career at the head of the South African subsidiary.
“We’ve enjoyed 25 years of positive results with continuous growth in terms of volume and distribution of the network“, says Simeone Morra, Corporate Business Director of Argo Tractors, “where, thanks to his commitment and passion for his work, Mike has been able to lead a close-knit working group, achieving the consolidation of the two brands Landini and McCormick in the South African market. The goals achieved have exceeded initial expectations and for this we can only be grateful to everybody on his team. At the same time, we offer a warm welcome to Godfried, who we are confident will contribute to the further development of our presence in Southern Africa.”
Heydenrych will be able to draw on his extensive knowledge of the market, acquired over the course of 27 years in the agricultural machinery industry, particularly in distribution roles working with retailers in South Africa. This is expertise that will help the new director to deal with the challenges of the market, the needs of the distribution network and the new business opportunities for the group.
“The Argo team“, notes Godfried Heydenrych, “has done a great job over the past 25 years and I expect to further improve these excellent results, both in South Africa and through the further development of the network in the main markets of Southern Africa. The Group’s range of tractors meets the different needs of South African agriculture. This makes me particularly excited to be able to work with the objective of pursuing further growth in all segments, especially in the market for high power tractors. In fact, with the McCormick X7 and X8 range we offer tractors that embody power and technology as well as competitiveness. And this power will be complemented by digital integration and the development of solutions for precision agriculture”.
Today, Argo South Africa, based in the city of Boksburg, near Johannesburg, can count on a network of more than 60 dealers scattered throughout the country. There are also dealers in Zimbabwe and one in Zambia.
Argo brands, Landini and McCormick, remain among the best-known major players in the industry across Southern Africa.
McCormick took on an expedition in 2018 that crossed South Africa with four high-power tractors travelling over 8,000 kilometres, bringing a message of humanity and friendship and turning a spotlight on the issues of sustainability, nutrition and health.
