McCormick Clever Cab nominated for the prestigious ADI Compasso d’Oro 2026 award

The permanent Observatory of Design ADI (Association for Industrial Design) has selected the new Clever Cab by McCormick for publication in the ADI Design Index 2024. This cab was created by Argo Tractors for its own tractors and not only offers more space and comfort, but also ergonomic solutions aimed at making life even better for the operator on board the tractor.

The ADI Design Index 2024 represents the first volume of the biennial cycle that selects and collects products for the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award 2026 (the world’s oldest and most distinguished design award). Furthermore, the ADI Design Index, represents the annual selection for the National Prize for Innovation (“Prize of Prizes”), sponsored by the Presidency of the Italian Republic.

Cav. Lav. (Order of Merit for Labour) Valerio Morra, President of Argo Tractors

This is a very prestigious selection”, commented Cav. Lav. (Order of Merit for Labour) Valerio Morra, President of Argo Tractors, “which recognises the undoubted capabilities of our Style Centre, as well as our Research & Development department. It represents Argo Tractors’ ability to combine technological power and the pursuit of perfection in design in its tractors. The McCormick Clever Cab, as perfectly grasped by the ADI Design Observatory, is a state-of-the-art solution in terms of both comfort and ergonomics for the operator, who always plays a key role in our production activities”.

The project, initiated after a careful analysis of the needs of today’s agriculture, was developed using the latest computer simulation techniques. The result is a cab that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also comfortable, spacious, quiet and featuring controls in line with the latest digital technology.

In addition to the vibro-acoustic aspect, thermal performance was also taken care of with the adoption of special glass windows that shield the heating effect of solar radiation in summer and reduce heat dispersion in winter; lighting was also improved with the adoption of latest-generation LED lights, for optimal visibility when working at night.

All controls are conveniently arranged around the driver’s seat, while the cluster and touch-screen monitor, now both 12′, have been completely redesigned to offer a satisfying user experience with more responsive and interconnected interfaces.

The technology adopted also allows the touch-screen monitor to be used for the connection with ISObus implements, the satellite guidance and for Agriculture 4.0 data management, thereby eliminating the need for multiple monitors in the cab.  The climate-controlled, air seat with a sliding headrest includes an armrest with a multifunctional joystick to manage transmission, hydraulics and all other vehicle functions.

The interior trim in automotive-derived materials and a four-speaker Alpine audio system, also compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, complete the picture.

The perfect balance of innovation and ergonomics, in McCormick’s unique style, make the Clever Cab spacious, quiet and efficient”, Morra continues, “incorporating the best features of comfort and practicality, due to passionately crafted details and decades of manufacturing experience, guaranteeing excellent performance”.
